AEC Wrapup Day 1: Thursday Dressage

AEC Day 1: Thursday

We have arrived at the AEC’s!  Day 1 meant the Training Level horses were competing in dressage, and the beginner novice horses were waiting in the wings.

Emily Roepke and The Bright Side started the day off for us.  Emily is a 19 year old working student for Team CEO, riding her own 6yo OTTB who she has brought along from the beginning.  They had a great test!  Their test was relaxed, fluid, and happy.  They scored a 40.0, and that will just keep getting better and better as Koda gets a little older and a little stronger. What a great performance!

Next up, Nikki Burgio competed her 13yo OTTB Master Oliver.  Unfortunately Oliver was just a bit lackluster  from the long haul down, and put in a solid test but lacking the typical sparkle these two bring to the table so often.  Nikki did a great job squeezing every point out of the test, and they scored a 38… A good score, but we all know they can do so much better!  We found a masseuse immediately and after a little TLC, Oliver is feeling like a million bucks again!   Proud of Nikki for riding every step and doing a great job with her boy.

Micki and Megan enjoyed flatwork and going for a great hack around the property. The silhouette of the 15h leopard appaloosa Spot Treatment and the 18h gray dutch warmblood Cody as definitely a sight to be seen!

We walked the courses and they look fantastic!   Lots of great, tough questions with fantastic flow and all very fair. Can’t wait to get out there!!
