Wednesday: Arrival at Otter Creek

So Andrea (my terrific ws) and I left many hours before dawn this morning to sludge across the country from KY to northwestern Wisconsin (almost to St Paul MN) to attend Otter Creek HT with my two intermediate horses this week.  The folks at Otter Creek kindly let me arrive a day early, as the trip is a very long one, and I wanted the boys to be able to rest.

The 13hr drive was a heck of a treck, but it is really exciting to have Andrea be able to help drive the trailer in shifts with me for the first time.  (Thanks Andrea!!)  I’ve always done all the driving, and now Ashley, Andrea, and Chelsea become the only people over the years to join me with the trailer driving… You guys are awesome!  That was a real gift!

We had a pretty uneventful drive, that is until we pulled into the event and found one of the tires to be hissing loudly.  We had JUST picked up a nail in the tire, and it was quickly deflating. Thank goodness for safe arrivals!  So as soon as the boys

were unloaded, we had the pleasure of changing the tire… Then a good Chinese Buffet supper and now off to bed.  We get to walk the courses late tomorrow—will report back!

To keep up with our friends at home, I will do my best to post an update each day. Have a great weekend everyone!
