Meet Our Special Boys

Today, a tribute to the beloved ponies at Team CEO Eventing!

  • Joe:  Joe spent his formative years out west, where Andrea tells stories of him dragging elk out of the mountains on hunting trips.  Later he was a champion barrel racer, and our WS Andrea spent her formative years riding him in Minnesota.    Now in his teenage years, he enjoys the more laid back side of life, and loves to do low level eventing.

  • Mighty Mouse:  The legend and the champion.   After 7 KY state 4H championships and numerous horse trial wins spanning over two decades, it’s easy to say that Might Mouse is the man.  Standing at a puny 12 hands, he is larger than life, and has a huge jump.  He has evented through novice.  He and Alana just finished the Team CEO HT tied for 2nd on her dressage score!

  • Kiwi:  The spotted wonder!  Kiwi is a favorite at pony camp… He is a trail riding pony learning to be an event horse, and he loves cross country!   Kiwi is a laid back kind of guy, and loves to just hang out with the boys.  He and Zack just finished 5th in their first horse trial together!

  • Pongo:  Pongo is incredibly special here at Team CEO.  He has brought along many generations of children here… Pongo has evented for years at Beginner Novice and Novice, and has completed probably hundreds of horse shows over the years.  He is currently eventing at Beginner Novice with Joe.

  • Obie:  Obie had a background in western, and today he is a lower level event horse.   He loves to jump, and is loved for his amazing canter.  Much like all the others, if you look closely enough, he is spotted!

OMG what a wonderful group! We never let Megan have a pony until Mighty Mouse, because we were all too painfully aware of the plentitude of evil ponies torturing innocent children in the beginner horse world!! Megan rode a 1500 pound AQHA western pleasure as a 6 yo and a 16’2″ ASB in double bridle as a 7 yo because they were safer than the “children’s ponies” in our area. Megan always wanted a pony, but we knew better (?????).

For those of you who don’t know the Mighty Mouse story, Megan’s mom & I did a lot of trail riding in the 1980’s and 90’s. On a crisp October day in 1991, we rode about 20 miles to the Lewis County sorghum festival, tied our horses, and proceeded to enjoy the festival and have lunch. Sitting under a big oak tree with friends, we all watched a tiny black pony rack back and forth past us with a 200 pound teenage boy, AND HIS FRIEND doubling. When they added a third teenager, one of our friends said “That’s the kind of pony Megan needs.” I agreed, and bought him on the spot. Megan has written the rest of the story and I’ll share it with you sometime.

      What about Beauty Spot?

Come to think of it… maybe that’s where Megan’s paint pony obsession comes from!!
