Octoberfest HT—Ribbons for all!!!

So the weekend after Team Challenge, we took students out to the Octoberfest HT at the Kentucky Horse Park.It was great to have a return to the origins of the sport, and right after the highs of Fair Hill, to get to see the highs of riders starting out in our sport!   CLICK on the pictures to see the bigger version!

Hayden and Casey were amazing…. Hayden is 10yo, and she and her pony were in there first HT at the KY Horse Park.     They did a great job in dressage, with a great accurate test!  Just one missed lead hurt the score a little, but overall it was such a great test!  In show jumping, they had a gorgeous double clean round—very quiet and steady, and we were all cheering!   Then on XC Hayden was a superstar, and rode her pony to yet another double clean round….   She finished on her dressage score in 7th!  See Hayden and Casey at   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8kJmkPKFkw

Joe is also only ten years old, and borrowed his mother’s paint Othello for the weekend.   Joe rode to his lifetime best dressage test!    Just 4 faults in show jumping, where Joe did a really good job.   Then in XC, a double clean round for a ribbon in 10th place!

Hannah rode Roofie again this weekend in the BN horse trial…  Sloane rode Ravioli also in the BN horse trial…. I have been so impressed at the hard work and dedication presented by both Hannah and Sloane, who are both only 13 years old…. They both worked SO hard on their dressage this week!    Sloane wins the award for the most improved this weekend, knocking TWENTY POINTS off her dressage test last weekend!  Her test this time was so beautiful…. I was so proud of her!   Hannah also did a great job in dressage.  In SJ, both girls achieved their signature double clean round in show jumping (their specialty).   They moved onto  great clean XC rounds….   Except I don’t let the young kids just learning to event  wear XC watches so they focus on producing good rounds rather than fast rounds…   So both girls were incredibly accurate to each other, and both came in 4 seconds under speed faults, incurring 1.6 speed faults.   But they both had gorgeous rounds, so I was very proud of them!  And since they were in different divisions of Beg Novice, they both finished in 5th place!    Talk about consistent…

In the combined tests, Mike made a HUGE hit with his fabulous mare Bella in her first ever CT!   They had a great dressage test for a fabulous 4th after dressage!   Bella is still learning where her rather voluptuous feet are, so just a couple of rails dropped them to 7th!  Most importantly, Bella was an absolute lady all weekend, and a huge hit with all who met her!

Also in the combined test, Kim rode her gray gelding Trooper in the Novice and Training level CT’s.  Kim rode the best I’ve ever seen her ride, and consequentially scored 31.0 and 35.0 respectively.   In the Novice CT, they jumped double clean to finish 3rd.   In the training CT, they earned just 4 faults to finish with a 6th place ribbon!  What a day—and what a sport to earn the farm colors of green and yellow for her ribbons!!    Howard posted Kim’s ride at:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWmDCHJrAwU

Also in the combined test, Annie rode her Nureyev to his second ever CT at the KHP.  The first time around, he was too excited to even compete.   Annie’s results this time were much better, and she easily won the dressage with a 27.   A double clean SJ round clenched her victory, and this pair’s first win together!   Congratulations!

Congratulations to all the terrific riders and horses this weekend…. Ribbons were earned by each and every rider!  All clear rounds on XC!

It was such a treat to be included in the CEO flock! I get a bit lonesome out here in the wilderness, and so look forward to my chances to see you all. Here’s hoping you all enjoy this great weather!
