Congratulations to Delphine on the purchase of Basil!

Congratulations to Delphine of Houston TX on the purchase of Probable Cause!!!

“Basil”, as he is known around the barn, is an incredibly 7yo Oldenburg/TB gelding who has evented through the CCI* and Preliminary levels with us.   He has been an incredible joy to own. A few special memories along his journey…

Basil had the privilege of training and contributing to the careers of many of our superstar working students over the last three years…. Pictured above, Basil competed through the Training Level with our terrific legendary working student from Massachusetts, Ashley Sager.    At left, Basil was a favorite ride of Sam, who is now a successful professional trainer in PA!

Basil took our working student Chelsea from her first recognized Novice to her first Training to her first Prelim and finally her first CCI*, all as Basil was 6yo-7yo, and Chelsea was 18.  They had an incredible partnership together, highlighted by a clean XC run at their first CCI*.    Another highlight was a terrific finish at the Richland Park HT 2009, where they were one of only a couple of horses to make the time around the challenging XC course to finish well in the ribbons in an international field.   They were a young, talented force to be reckoned with, and I am so proud of all of their accomplishments together.

Megan competed Basil from BN to Preliminary, most recently resulting in 3rd place at Spring Bay HT and 3rd at Queeny Park HT, where they were the ONLY horse to make the time at Preliminary, despite finishing 20 seconds under time.

Later, working student Alison Zeitlin competed Basil at the Preliminary level, with Basil as a 7yo and Ali at just 17 years old.  They had a terrific finish, with a 9th place finish at Gemwood HT and a terrific weekend.

Student Holly Caccamise also took a jump lesson on Basil once, schooling 3’10” for the first time.   Holly happens to be an Associate Editor at Horse Illustrated, and later wrote about their experience together on her blog at http://www.horsechannel.com/the-near-side-blog/2010/0518-just-jump-it.aspx

Working Student Emily received her birthday present via Basil…. For her birthday, she had a jump lesson with Megan on Basil, where she had the opportunity to school up to 3’11” for the first time!

As you can see, Basil has had an undeniable impact on the riders at Team CEO Eventing.  We have so enjoyed being a part of his journey to this point.   Delphine is a terrific rider, and I am so excited to see their partnership grow and blossom.   Basil loved Delphine at first sight, and I’m sure he’ll be as wonderful for her as he has been for all of our riders who have learned so much on him.

Delphine & Basil—We wish you all the best in your incredible journey together!

All the best,

Megan
