Gemwood Horse Trials

Results from the weekend!

Team CEO had horses this weekend at both the FLying Cross HT and the Gemwood HT… I’ll start with the results from Gemwood…

3rd ASAP and Megan, in Open Novice: ASAP did his first novice this weekend!!!   He was SOOOOO good in all three phases!   He had his best dressage test ever, and I was particularly pleased with his canter work—hard to do when you’re 5yo and 17.2h!   He was so good….   I did have an error for halting at the wrong place though—OOPS!    He consistently scores in the low twenties, but the scoring in that ring was pretty tough, so his best ever test scored a 36.    Just goes to show you the numbers don’t match up from weekend to weekend.    🙂     He jumped a double clean show jumping round, jumping really big everywhere and trying his heart out!   He was just as good on XC, cantering around easily to finish on his dressage score in 3rd place.

6th Color Treatment and Megan in Open Training: Boscoe never lets me down!  He was super in dressage, though a couple of minor mistakes drove his score down.   He jumped his little heart out in show jumping, easily jumping double clean and clearing everything by a ton!   He was so much fun on cross country, packing me around like a child on a pony….   He easily stepped over all of the training fences, hungry for harder questions.    Boscoe was SO much fun!   He finished on his dressage score in 6th place in a big, impressive division of pros.

3rd Dexter and Holly in BNRA: This was the first USEA HT for the new partnership of Holly & Dexter.   Dexter thought the show jumping grandstand was fairly terrifying, but Holly rode brilliantly in all three phases, and brought him home to finish on his dressage score in the BN Rider A division. They finished 3rd, just 0.9 off the win!  This is such an exciting start to their career together!

4th Kobie and Emily in BNRB: Emily had evented for a year before joining us as a working student for the summer, but had not completed a horse trial…. She has done such a WONDERFUL job this summer that she transformed Kobie into not only completing the event, but being just one moment away from winning the division!   Half her division was eliminated on the challenging course, yet Emily did a great job of riding and came home with a great finish!

9th Ali and Basil in OP: There were 25 horses in the Preliminary, many of which were professionals with mileage at Intermediate and Advanced.     But our 17 year old working student Ali proved that she could compete with the best of them!   She borrowed Team CEO’s preliminary level event horse Basil to run a prelim this weeknd, and they did a great job!   After only 2 weeks together, the pair earned a 40.0 in dressage.  They had a lovely SJ round.  Most impressively, after many people were having problems on course, Ali and Basil easily galloped around the course in beautiful fashion.  More impressively, the game plan was for them was to have a great round and not make time…. They did just that, though on a course when only one rider made time, they still had the 4th fastest round of the day!   The pair had a blast, and they they did a terrific job!

And then at Flying Cross HT: Nikki and Oliver finish 1st at Open Training!   Congrats to this pair on their second win this season!    They lead start to finish for a terrific weekend around a challenging course!

Congrats to everyone!
