December Hunter/Jumper Show

In December, we headed out to the Lakeside Arena Hunter Jumper Show.   We took several young horses and young riders out for their first experiences, and we had a blast!   Many of our riders were out of town this weekend, but it was so much fun that I hope more can join us at the next outing.

Expedition & Megan:   Megan rode her beloved 4 year old OTTB Expedition at his first jumper show.  He was AMAZING!   In a very busy show, he placed: 5th 2′ Jumper, 4th Gamblers Choice, WINNER of 2′ jumpers, and Reserve Champion 2′ Jumper!

Mouse & Julieanne:   Julieanne showed in the 2′ hunter divisions.   5th in one division of Beginning Rider 2′, and 4th in the other division!

Mouse & Michaela: Michaela showed in the short stirrup divisions.     In the two divisions of Short Stirrup against MANY ponies, they ribboned 6th both times, and placed 4th in the flat class!

Tortellini & Chelsea: Tortellini is one of our beloved lesson horses, and is usually too busy introducing new riders to our wonderful sport to have time to further his own education.   But on this day, he had the opportunity to branch out and practice his skills with one of our working students.  As always, he was brilliant!   It was his first jumper show, and his first time in an indoor arena.   As always, he was a star, steady and willing and unspookable.   He showed in the 2′ hunter divisions to give him some mileage, and there were dozens of horses in the very competitive classes.  We were so proud of his great attitude!  He was absolutely terrific, and we’re so happy to have such a wonderful guy on our team.  In addition, Chelsea sat on him for most of the day, and he developed quite a fanclub of kids—-there were kids (whom we didn’t know) hanging off his neck, his face, his ears…. He gave pony rides and played with the kids all day, and absolutely loved it!
